From Vision to Book: former Masterclass Students Present Photobooks at the National Gallery

The Masterclass students of Photo Project Development 2025 proudly present their brand-new photobooks at Oslo Negativ – hosted at the National Gallery.

Over the past year, the participants have immersed themselves in a demanding process of research, experimentation, and dialogue, pushing their projects from early ideas into fully realized books. Each publication reflects a distinct artistic voice, offering personal perspectives on contemporary photography and the stories it can tell.

What unites the group is not only the ambition of their projects, but also the extraordinary level of talent. These are photographers whose work is already being noticed – emerging voices with the potential to shape how photography is practiced and understood in the years ahead. Their books are both deeply personal and universally relevant, testifying to the strength of a new generation of image-makers.

The opening takes place on October 11, marking the very first presentation of these works at a festival. Visitors are invited to engage directly with the books, meet the photographers behind them, and experience a wide range of approaches to the photobook as both medium and object.

The photobooks will be available for purchase during the festival, and can also be ordered through Sample Books’ online bookstore, making them accessible to a wider international audience.

These books are not only the outcome of an intensive year of development – they are also the beginning of something larger. Ready to step out into the world, they will continue their journeys beyond the festival, finding readers, collectors, and audiences across borders.
